Copenhagen is a jazz city. Every July the Copenhagen Jazz Festivalfills squares, clubs and churches across town — but the music never really stops. On any given week you’ll find live jazz in the city’s smaller rooms, and few neighbourhoods do it better than Vesterbro.

Intimate jazz in Vesterbro

Forget the big stages. The best jazz nights in Vesterbro happen a few metres from your table — a trio in the corner of a wine bar, a glass of something natural in your hand, no barrier between you and the band. That’s the kind of room Vesterhus is, on Istedgade in the heart of the neighbourhood.

When the festival ends, the music stays

If you spent July chasing sets around town, here’s your autumn plan. Vester Blues is a whole week of live music at Vesterhus — jazz, blues, folk and country, six nights straight, 20–25 October 2026 (week 43), doors 19:30, free entry. It’s not Copenhagen Jazz Festival — it’s our own week — but it’s made for exactly the same crowd. See who plays which night.

Where can I hear live jazz in Vesterbro?

Vesterbro is full of small rooms with live music — wine bars and cafés along Istedgade and Sønder Boulevard. Vesterhus, a wine bar on Istedgade, hosts live jazz, blues, folk and country, and runs a whole week of it as Vester Blues.

Is there live jazz in Copenhagen in October?

Yes. The big Copenhagen Jazz Festival is in July, but live jazz plays year-round in the city's smaller venues. Vester Blues brings six nights of it to Vesterhus from 20–25 October 2026 — free entry.

Is Vester Blues a jazz festival?

It's a week of live music — jazz, blues, folk and country — in one intimate wine bar. It isn't part of Copenhagen Jazz Festival; it's our own thing, organised by Vesterhus, made for the same music-loving crowd.
